| HOW CAN I BE
INCLUDED IN THE COMBINE?
You may submit your information on-line to West Coast Softball All-Stars and they will evaluate your credentials. No player is guaranteed a spot in the camp, and it is the intent of West Coast Softball All-Stars to limit the camp to the top 44 collegiate prospects. WHOSE JUDGMENT WILL BE USED TO DETERMINE WHO ARE THE TOP 44? It will be a subjective decision by West Coast Softball All-Stars based upon their extensive background in NCAA athletics, and their knowledge of the depth of ASA softball talent across the country, primarily on the West Coast. HOW WILL THE INVITATION PROCESS WORK? Invitations will be mailed out in the late Spring to those considered the Northwest's top prospects by West Coast Softball All-Stars. Not every slot will be filled at that time. Some slots will be reserved for those players who emerge during the summer as potential Division 1 prospects. As a result, you may be invited during the first week of August after West Coast Softball All-Stars sees you play during the summer. IF I GET AN INVITATION WHAT SHOULD I DO? If you are invited to participate in the Recruiting Combine for the Northwest, you will have a window of opportunity available to you to accept the invitation. If you fail to accept the invitation, or choose not to accept the invitation, another potential athlete will be invited in your place. WILL YOU HAVE EXACTLY 44 PARTICIPANTS? No, not necessarily. Only potential Division 1 athletes will be invited. Of course, there are many Division 1 talents playing at other levels, but the bottom line is that we want the best players in the Northwest to come together so coaches from all over the country can evaluate their talent. We will not have more than 44. We may have less. WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM NOT SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE? You may still contact West Coast Softball All-Stars, submit your information, and inform them of other times you will be playing with your travel team. They will make every attempt to see you play, and if you catch their eye, you will also be included in their Recruiting Reports. HOW MANY PLAYERS WILL BE INCLUDED FROM EACH CLASS? That depends entirely upon the depth of talent in each class. Naturally, the older player will have a decided advantage due to experience and maturity. However, it is of great interest to West Coast Softball All-Stars and the college coaches to get an early look at the young talent in the younger grades. WILL I BE ALLOWED TO SEE MY EVALUATION? You will be given feedback as to your strengths and weaknesses, as seen by West Coast Softball All-Stars. The most important people to impress will be the college coaches, and their feedback, in the form of recruiting contact, will let you know what they thought. ARE PARENTS ALLOWED TO WATCH? Parents will certainly be allowed to watch the structured drills in the combine. Per NCAA rules, it is mandatory that no contact is initiated with the college coaches in attendance. It is also hoped that the parents will actively participate in the Recruiting Seminar on Friday evening. CAN I PARTICIPATE EVEN IF MY TEAM IS NOT IN THE TOURNAMENT? Yes, you may. We want the top 44 players in the Northwest to be together showcasing their skills. The tournament allows the coaches to see you in a natural, competitive setting, so while it is an important aspect of the day, it is not mandatory. WILL THIS BE MY ONLY EVALUATION FOR WEST COAST SOFTBALL ALL-STARS? Probably not. The West Coast Softball All-Star staff evaluates most of the major tournaments up and down the West Coast throughout the Summer and Fall. They also track the players and note their improvement, or lack thereof. This is only one part of a process designed to help you get all the exposure you need to reach the school of your dreams. WHAT HAPPENS IF I PLAY POORLY? Everyone can have an off day. We are looking at your talent, your athletic ability, your skill level, and the intangibles which help an elite athlete succeed. These will shine through even on a bad day. CAN YOUR SERVICE GUARANTEE ME A SCHOLARSHIP? No, only your talent and work ethic can guarantee that. All we can do is help you get the exposure you need. It is up to you and the coaches to figure out who can help whom. IF I GET A GOOD EVALUATION, HOW OFTEN WILL MY NAME BE PUT IN FRONT OF THE VARIOUS COLLEGE COACHES? West Coast Softball All-Stars puts out reports after most tournaments, and at other various times during the year. Your name will circulated constantly with those coaches looking for athletes. West Coast Softball All-Stars is consistently in contact with their coaches via the phone or internet, as the coach tries to locate the players who can help them be successful. HAS WEST COAST SOFTBALL ALL-STARS HELPED OTHER PLAYERS IN THE NORTHWEST? Yes, players such as Krista Colburn, Tiffany McDonald, Kelly Baugh, Tyler Schaefer, and many others, have appeared in West Coast Softball All-Star Reports and been given exposure all over the country. While the service is designed for the collegiate coach, the player benefits greatly. WHAT ARE THE COSTS INVOLVED IN WEST COAST SOFTBALL ALL-STARS? West Coast Softball All-Stars has NO COST for the players! For the Recruiting Combine, there will probably be a small processing fee for each of the participants. However, in two years, no player has paid a single cent to West Coast Softball All-Stars, and yet many, many players have received scholarships as a result of their exposure on the service's recruiting reports. HOW SOON SHOULD I CONTACT WEST COAST SOFTBALL ALL-STARS? Contact us as soon as you can. The earlier the better. You can not start the process too soon! |
